My Apologies

To My Readers,

I know that it has been several weeks since I last posted to my blog.  I want to take the time out to apologize to those who were faithfully and consistently following my blog and the weekly posts.  The lack of posting over the past several weeks by far was negligence on my part.  In life we all have times when something, someone, or a situation demands our undivided attention.  When that happens, you simply have to follow your heart and make a choice to prioritize what is more important during that specific time.  Sometimes it's simply what you feel is more important but not necessarily what should be more important.

I look forward to writing and posting again to and as His Majesty's Favorite.  I hope each and every one of you will continue to drop by and read my posts.

Pursue Excellence But Avoid Perfectionism

I read this line while studying from one of my favorite leadership coaches, John C. Maxwell.  “Pursue excellence but avoid perfectionism” is weight off of your shoulders.  The thought of going after something, pursuing a goal, or striving to be successful are all journeys we want and hope one day to be “just right”.  We want it to be perfect.  Perfection is a fairytale word.  It’s a matter of opinion.  As you live everyday to its fullest reaching as high as you can, do as much as you can, but don’t chase the dream of being perfect because perfection is in the eye of the beholder. 

No one person is exactly the same so no two people will have the exact same perception on every single thing.  Living a life trying to be perfect in every way can be stressful and overwhelming.  The negative side effects that it causes are very unhealthy emotionally, mentally, and socially.   Even if one feels they have achieved perfection, they will not measure up to every one’s definition of a perfect life.  The woman who is married to a loyal and loving husband with two children feels life is perfect because she has a great family.  The single successful career woman who has just made partner at her law firm feels life is perfect because she has overtaken corporate America.  Both of these women feel they have reached perfection but by different definitions, yet they both have reached excellence in what they were pursuing.  They were passionate about their efforts.

Whatever it is you choose to pursue take steps towards excellence instead of pursuing perfection in a diverse world.  A place of perfection has a different definition by not only individuals but also by culture.  Measure your definition to your works and don’t allow another’s definition to define the object of your pursuit.

…Your One Stop Shop to Personal, Professional, and Spiritual Development.  LaKesha Womack is a “You Can Have It All” extraordinaire.  She provides insight and informative tips on anything related to developing you into a better you both professionally and personally.  She muses often on her blog, LaKesha Womack, where she shares Success Secrets, Business Dollars and Sense, Christian and Cool, and many other eye catching categories.  Yes, all of the above mentions are worth speaking of, however, it’s not the writing that firsts catches your eye it’s her online personality and charisma that gets you hitched.

I first witnessed LaKesha’s extendable insight and choice of quality when she reached out to me personally in hopes of recruiting me for The BOSS Network, an online network of professional women empowering each other.  Needless to say, she did.  From energetic and insightful tweets in my twitter feed to edifying blog posts in my reader, LaKesha is consistent in her delivery, a natural leader to those around her.  She recruits, shares, and makes an unforgettable impression to all who interacts with her online.  I learned this first hand when I had a random business call with a colleague and LaKesha’s name came up in the conversation as if we both knew her personally.  We didn’t.  It was the transparency and impact LaKesha made that exude familiarity.

Everywhere I go online, I see her.  This showed me how influential and inspirational she was to those who came into contact with her.  If you cross LaKesha’s path, you will surely be inspired by her words.  The magnitude of influence she has locally and online across the social network is really substantial.  I’ve watched how people recognized and acknowledge her because of her online presence.  She isn’t a hoax, she isn’t marketing her business, she is simply being LaKesha Womack, an Inspired Extraordinaire.  She is an individual who isn’t afraid to demonstrate and share all of their talents with a natural and unselfish attitude.

LaKesha’s talent goes far beyond her blog, a hub where she displays all of her crafts.  She is a professional consultant who owns and manages Womack Consulting Group.  LaKesha is a Business Consultant, Speaker, Writer, and Wedding & Event Planner.  She has been featured in other blogs and is a constant contributor to The Young Writer’s Block, an online community of young professionals writing to empower, inform, and discuss.

Our Actions Are Interpreters Of Our Thoughts

In yesterday’s Wisdom Wednesday’s post, Power of the Tongue, I wrote about how we speak the things that we think.  I said action starts with a thought.  Everything that we do or not do is a result of the way we think.  Our mindset and the debate of the conscious along with the secrets of the subconscious are all a mirror of who we are.  We become what we think and as Patrice Washington said in her blog, Seek Wisdom, Find Wealth “Remember that what you verbalize, you materialize…” It’s a circle of influence, we think it, we speak it, and then we manifest it.  Behold, we birth life from a thought.

John Lock said ~ “The actions of men are the best interpreters of their thoughts”

Men and women are measured by their actions.  You can say one thing and do another. Your actions will always carry the weight.  Our actions are silent words communicating not only our thoughts, but our ethics and morals.  It interprets our character.  Naturally, people believe your actions and may be skeptical of your words unless you have developed a relationship with them and therefore build trust and credibility.  Not everyone walks in believing is seeing.

~ 7 Reasons Why... "You Shouldn't Be Afraid Of Success"

I always look at the glass half full instead of half empty.  Many of us have read reasons why people are afraid of success, in this post I choose not to discuss the negative but the positives.  Discussing the negative gives fuel to the fire and in some cases people tend to focus on that fire.

Breathe, release, and let go of any fears you may have of success.  Success is not something that you should deny because of fear.  Here are 7 reasons why you shouldn’t be afraid of success.

1. Win or Lose Situation – success is accomplished either way.  A salesman knows that a sell is made in every interaction, either you make the sell or the prospect sells you on why not.  In the case of success, either fear is successful in telling you that you can’t be successful or you are successful in overcoming fear of the unknown.

2. There Is Room At The Top – there is enough room in this world for everyone who chooses to be successful.   Remember the Pareto Principle and apply it, 80% of the wealth is only generated or owned by 20% of the population.  There are plenty of opportunities to benefit from this statistic and be apart of that 20%.  When you do make it to the top, just remember to help someone else get there.

3. Failure Hurts – if you do find yourself skeptical or afraid of success, think of the feeling immediately after that thought.  The emotion that comes with failure can hurt your pride and confidence.  The idea of failing in life can dominate your thoughts.  While you can’t be afraid of failure, you must also not be oppressed by the possibility.

FOCUS

With so many changes taking place in our world, in this economy, it’s inevitable that changes will also take place in our lives.  These changes may be willing or forced.  The systematic approach of doing so has to be accompanied by focus and self-discipline.  There is more than one way to solve a problem and there is also more than one way to acquire a desired result.  Avoid having to experience all the different ways by staying focus and doing one thing at a time.  Don’t allow yourself to get up in a web trying to find your way around a vain matter or an attempt to fill a void.

   Prioritize and concentrate on your mission.  Zoom in on what it is you want and measure it to what it is that you need.  Sometimes we think getting what we want will satisfy our needs.  They are different.  Our wants are controlled and influence by our flesh and society.  Our needs are required for growth and stability.  Our needs are designed to build and maintain our foundation in life.  Control your interruptions and distractions.  Don’t allow the distractions of your wants interfere with the satisfaction of your needs.   Stay focus on your mission.

Our Expectations of Life. You Get What You Give.

Many of us understand the importance of putting in work in order to get the result that we desire.  The level of work we give or sacrifice can be anything from physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual.  It's not just blood, sweat, and tears but it's how much of what's on our insides we give that instigates our success on the outside.  Our outcomes are determined by our input.  Simply said, you get out whatever it is that you put in.   However, if you do not give, you cannot expect a return.

Some people go through stages in life where they feel success is debt that they must collect.  They have a way of thinking that life owes them something.   If we get caught up in this mentality then not only will we be stuck in a place of complacency but also be insensible about the responsibilities that comes along with success.  A few of these responsibilities are:

It's Not Lonely At The Top, If You Help Somebody Get There.

When an individual reaches a visible level of success in the eyes of the public, we say “they’ve made it”.  Levels of success are sometimes measured to ones own accountability.   However, there does seem to be an undefined, somewhat immeasurable, state of success that clarifies “making it to the top”.  When it happens, you will know it and so will others.   But making it to the top doesn’t denote you are done in life; nor does it signify that you’ve fulfilled your purpose.  When you reach the top, you still have to take the lid off so the bright light of success can shine and encourage someone else to make it there as well.

It Only Takes One

I used to say the statement “it only takes one” without fully understanding the power of “one”.   Some times we say things and don’t really understand the meaning or capture the revelation of it until we have experience something that relates to it.   Knowledge is in fact power, but knowledge is also learned experiences.

I came to understand the power of this statement a week ago when I experienced a woman at a homeless shelter where I facilitate adult training give me a typed thank you letter.   It was completely unexpected.   The smile on my face, the joy in my spirit, and the love in my heart was overwhelming even for me.   She was the “only” adult who decided to commit to training in the entire shelter and attended every class faithfully and on time.
