Inspiration Without Energy? How to Stir Up Energy to Release Your Inspiration.

Have you ever had a time when you were fired up and ready to go take on the world? You know, after that conversation with a friend that ended with "Oh my goodness, let's do this! I can do this!". You knew what you wanted. You were motivated and inspired to do whatever it took to achieve a victory. You felt the sensation of success. You daydreamed about how your life would be once you've succeeded in reaching your goal. You were smiling from ear to ear. But then, a week later, you haven't done one thing to release that inspiration.

You had the inspiration, but fail to put in motion the energy required to make your dreams a reality. I was reminded of this while sipping my last cup of tea earlier today. Needless to say, I had to immediately pump myself up.

Being inspired to do something and actually doing something that you are inspired to do, is the difference between dreamers and doers.

The delay to put action behind things that ignite a fire in us has happened to most of us. Don't allow yourself to get caught up with the idea of the dream coming true. Walk and strut in your purpose and passion to make sure your idea becomes alive.

Here are some ways to help stir up energy to release your inspiration.

  1. Start Doing - Begin to work on whatever it is you are inspired to do. It's okay to start slow. Research topics associated with it. Write down your vision and make it plain. I'm a strong believer in Habakkuk 2:2, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets". It's one of my favorite scriptures. Any effort and movement towards your enthusiasm is a good start and will help build momentum.

  2. Talk to Your Mentor - Speak with someone whom you look up to and admire such as a mentor. Talk with them about your ideas and allow yourself to brain dump whatever it is that exhaled life into you. They will help you clarify your thoughts and mobilize your plan.

  3. Look at Pictures - Pictures ignite creativity, inspiration, and or action. Allow yourself to get lost in photos that portray the emotions you want to experience and use that sensation to get up and take action!

  4. Exercise - We know how important daily exercise is for our body, but it’s also good for our mind. Use the adrenaline you get from a workout to make your inspiration tangible. Post workout, open your laptop and...JUST DO IT!
  5. Work Outdoors - Find a nice tea shop with wifi access and tables outside. Ok, for you coffee drinkers, a coffee shop will work too. Allow the ray from the sun, the constant motion of people walking by, and the company of other people working around you to stimulate action flowing from thought to existence.

The most important thing is to just start doing. Do something no matter how small or insignificant you think it is. Energy builds with movement. In life, you have to keep moving forward. Inspiration without energy is like wasted potential. It's like the coal needed to keep the fire burning, but your energy is like the fluid required to ignite the fire.

Shared over a cup of tea,
