We've all been told at some point in our lives to follow our heart. What do you feel in your heart? That's what you are supposed to do. That's what you should do, or is it? Our heart is filled with so many emotions. At times we are unsure of what emotions we are feeling. That statement alone requires an entire blog post of its own. These emotions can be influenced and invoked by a range of things including love, friendships, social settings, and even your working environment.
When you are in your emotions and or have strong emotions about someone or some thing, always evaluate the reason for that emotion. Even when you can't determine exactly what emotion it is you are feeling, you need to be able to determine what caused an emotional reaction. Perhaps, take some time alone, time away with yourself, to ponder its origin.
When it comes to matters of the heart, consider mind over emotion. Think about what you are feeling and compare it to the state of the relationship. Is the relationship healthy? Is it stable? Yes, your heart may love, but rationalize what you feel in your heart with what your mind is not in agreement with. I'm sure at some time or another you've allowed what you felt in your heart to inspire you. While there is nothing wrong with that, don't dismiss the insight your mind is highlighting. Everything that looks good isn't good. When it is good, that doesn't mean that it's for you.
When your mind is in constant conflict with your emotions, consider your mind, over your emotions.
