Day In and Day Out

To be young, is to be naïve and blind,
Living a life of the present, without the future in mind,
Day in and day out, you strive to be all that and more,
But the weight of now, keeps you from walking through that open door.

That door is open and waiting for your entrance,
Decision, decision, do you walk into endless possibilities?
Or do you stand stuck in past tense and not utilize common sense.

Long and narrow is the journey into success,
Once you walk through that door, everyday becomes a test,
Day in and day out, you strive to be all that and more,
But the weight of now, keeps you from walking through the next door.

Through this door are options with a light that shines bright,
Some are almost perfect, and others are misleading:
The opportunities are many, but not every one is right;

Firmly planted, are your feet in your chosen path,
Learned, experienced, and now comfortable in your craft,
Day in and day out, you strive to be all that and more,
But the weight of now, keeps you from closing the other door.

Now that you understand the light ahead of you,
You closed the other door and focus with the future in mind,
Walking tall and being strong, applying the insight and inspiration you learned from being you.
